My Realization

I’ve struggled with weight my entire life, from the time I was in high school. I’d pretty much resigned myself to this being my fate. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I had a sedentary job in accounting and would eat whatever I wanted. I went to the gym sometimes but not consistently.

My exercise habits were spotty. I was eating a lot of fast food and grabbing whatever was handy. With Real Appeal, I found a new way of living based on changing lots of little things, like food tracking, burning extra calories doing everyday tasks, and getting support from my coach.

My Motivation

I didn’t expect it to work. But Real Appeal very much exceeded everything I had in mind. I started seeing results immediately. When people ask me how I lost weight, I tell them that I started Real Appeal. When they wonder what that is, I tell them: It’s a way to change your life.

Focusing on activity, and burning extra calories doing everyday tasks, has been a big help to me. I keep the resistance bands from my Success Kit in my office at home. Every hour I’ll get up and do something.

One of my favorite things to do is to BBQ and smoke meats. But now I do it in much smaller portions. I pay attention to the calories, fat, and nutritional information that I didn’t before. Tracking is everything.

A real “aha” moment for me was the Real Appeal session on dealing with plateaus. I would’ve gotten discouraged in the past. But I just kept going. Now I feel like I can do anything. I focus on what’s important.
