Donna Ryan

Steven R. Smith

Dr. Williamson has conducted research and clinical practice in the field of obesity for 39 years, and has held the rank of Professor Emeritus at Pennington Biomedical Center since 2011. His deep involvement in obesity research includes serving as co-investigator of the Diabetes Prevention Program and the Look AHEAD studies, and as primary investigator for three Department of Defense studies testing the efficacy of an internet-based weight management and physical fitness program.
*In the past 20 years, researchers have demonstrated that structured weight-loss and lifestyle-change programs can accomplish three critical employee and population health goals:1. Improving overall health outcomes for individuals who are overweight and obese but do not yet have prediabetes or diabetes (Jensen, M.D., Ryan, D.H., Donato, K.A. et al, 2014) 2.
