3 Ways to Exercise at Work

Business Man Biking To Work 01

Work can be a great place to get in extra steps that will apply towards your daily fitness goal. Remember, every little bit counts!

Here are three ways to squeeze a meaningful amount of exercise into your work day:

1. Your commute.

If you drive to work, park at the far end of the parking lot, and if possible, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Depending on how far you live from your workplace, consider biking to work if the weather permits. If you ride the bus, train or subway, get off one or two stops early and walk the rest of the way.

2. During the day.

Replace your sit-down meetings with walk-and-talks, either outside or in the hallways. If you spend a lot of time on the phone, consider standing or moving around rather than sitting at your desk. Take a brisk walk during your lunch break.

3. While at your workstation.

Make a point to take a break from sitting once every hour to move around for a few minutes. If you have been sitting at your desk for a while, perform some gentle stretches to keep your blood flowing and your joints limber. If your employer offers the option of a standing or treadmill desk, take advantage of it – your body will thank you.
